Day 8 The Recital

Today is a holiday in Ukraine.  It's the Day of Protection of the Rights of Children, the one day a year Ukraine sets aside to remember the kids of the country, including the orphan.  The children at Dasha's baby house have been working for months to prepare a performance to give on this day.  We were so lucky to be here and be invited to watch.  When we arrived at the baby house, it was a very busy place.  There were many visitors who had come to see the performance and give presents.  We waited for a bit and then took our seats in the music room.  The show was one of the cutest things we've ever seen.  All the Reece's Rainbow kids participated.  They sang and they danced, I'm telling you, ADORABLE!  Dasha played "Antoshka".  Antoshka is an old Ukrainian cartoon.  He is a lazy boy who doesn't want to do any work, but wants to eat.  She had a singing and dancing solo!  :)

After the show, the nannies brought Dasha and Polina outside to us and the Bergmans.  They had changed their clothes and combed Dasha's uber-teased hair.  The girls had been given two candy bars each because it was such a special day and they wanted to eat them.  We brought water, apple juice and a banana and the Bergmans had grapes.  The girls shared all the snacks, except their candy.  It is very interesting to watch the interaction between Dasha and Polina.  They are clearly good friends and they play together but also fight and annoy each other.  It's very cute and we are all glad that they have each other to go through this process with.
