Day 13 Court News!

I have exciting news to share today! We have court tomorrow!! We've known it was a possibility since early last week, but we didn't find out until this afternoon that it's definitely going to happen. It's at 3 pm, so we'll go see Dasha in the morning, then return to our apartment to change our clothes and head back to Makiivka to the courthouse.  We are very grateful that we got a date so quickly.  Norm will be leaving tomorrow night on the train back to Kiev and will be home with our boys late Wednesday night.  I am staying during our 10 day wait and will continue to visit Dasha everyday.

Today's visit was more of the same...bubbles, Play-Doh, snacks, running to the groupa.  You know, the normal stuff. The girls walked over to Sergei's car again.  He tried to get them to get in but they wouldn't do it.  Polina spotted a bottle of Pepsi on the floor of the car and he offered it to them if they got in.  They took the bait and both climbed into the front passenger seat for a swig.  Dasha didn't like it, so she got right out!  At least they are getting used to the car and Sergei.

The language barrier and the busy playground environment of our visits has made it difficult to feel like we are really getting to know Dasha.  We learn a little bit about her each day, but I wish it were more.  We know that she doesn't really like to swing.  She climbs on and will let us push her for about 10 seconds and then wants off.  And forget about twisting the swing and letting it unwind with her on it.  She is NOT a fan!  She also doesn't like Skittles.  Both times she gave hers to Polina. One thing she does like is bananas so she will be happy to learn that we always have a basket of bananas on our kitchen counter.  I am so excited to get to know her better and learn more about her likes and dislikes.  She is such a sweetheart and we feel so lucky that we are going to be her parents.
